Hello, friends!
My name is Kendra Rose Hernandez and for those who do not know how you ended up at my blog, I am a year-long volunteer with the Young Adults in Global Mission program through the ELCA.
What does this mean?
It means that I am living abroad for the next year accompanying my brothers and sisters in Central Europe, walking along side the people here. I am learning the traditions, the holidays, the languages, and so much more. I am living in Budapest, Hungary with a lovely Hungarian family of six that show me the ropes of living in the city, public transportation, but also show me love when I am least expecting it. Techincally, yes, I am a “missionary”. However, that word has such negative connotations surrounding it (think white christian colonialism). Within this program are 60+ young adults who are the living, breathing examples of accompaniment. The next year will be full of ups and downs as I work along side the people of Budapest. Here I will be posting a non-formal account of day-to-day life, thoughts, and happenings. There is no set schedule for blog posts, so please be sure to subscribe to receive updates in your email!
With love and blessings,
Kendra Rose Hernandez
